Ice Skating!

Today I went ice skating for the first time in a while, and let me tell you, I got the hang of it pretty quick. Here is a picture of me after about two minutes on the ice:
Ha ha yeah right! First of all, instead of a cute little dress, I wore pants and a coat; it was cold in there! And secondly, I was a bit more timid than I would like to admit. You see, ice skating is basically like rollerblading or skating, except instead of little wheels on the bottoms of your shoes, you have tiny machetes on your skates. Which could like, slice off someones finger at anytime, or get stuck in the wall or something. The skates never seem to fit right either...I could have sworn I had two left skates! And then you have a million people crammed into the rink with you, all of whom have mostly never skated in their lives as well. So if one person goes down, usually its a three to four person crash in the middle of the rink...not pretty. And there never really is enough wall space for everyone, so try and hug the side when 50 four-year-olds are holding on for dear life! Needless to say, towards the end of the skating time, I got the hang of it; well, skating forwards that is. I guess to skate backward you must have ninja powers or something, because the coordination required to skate backwards surpassed quantum physics and genetic engineering any day. phew! its like walking backwards! I mean come on! I barely master skating forwards, and now you're introducing this strange new way of skating! Its like being told to eat with your toes! :) And the Zamboni! I have decided that a Zamboni is actually a rare Italian dish mixed with a steamroller :)
So, overall rating of today: A+ :) Its always fun to learn something new, and almost shatter your ankles at the same time! :)

  1. Love it! I didn't know you went skating-was it at the Chiller? By the way, sometime I'll have to show you MY ninja powers and skate backwards! It was the best thing I learned after taking a quarter of ice skating in college!

  3. That is so true - why do they give you razor blades mounted on shoes, shoot you across the ice at warp speed, and, brakes? I don't think they're included! Good luck not maiming someone. Seriously, glad you had such fun.
